1950s Juvenia Arithmo In Stainless Steel

Why This Watch Matters

This Juvenia offers a unique look and functions you wouldn't expect, plus it looks fantastic on the wrist.

The Full Story

As its name suggests, the Juvenia Arithmo allows its wearer to perform many calculations thanks to its smart use of logarithmic tables. This model was unveiled in 1945, closely following the launch of the Mimo Loga and the Breitling Chronomat, which both also rely on a slide rule. Such a system was crucial in times when the electronic calculator did not exist; interestingly, the first circular slide rules was actually developed around 1630. The Arithmo did not forget to focus on aesthetics with a smaller central dial, here offering a very nice two-tone finish.

What we Love and What You Should Know

The condition of the case is exemplary; we are probably dealing with an untouched case, judging by the lugs and the sharp engravings on the caseback. Similarly, the slide works properly, and its scales are easily legible. The two-tone dial shows a light radium burn that you'd expect from a watch that was not used for a long time, but its stunning silvered track has remained intact.
